Memorial Day weekend isn’t just the unofficial start to summer, it’s also a time to honor fallen service members, reflect, and move with meaning. Across Boston, fitness communities come together for workouts that pay tribute and push limits.

Here are a few ways to sweat with purpose this Memorial Day:
💪 The Murph Challenge: CrossFit
Date: Monday, May 26, 2025 (Memorial Day)
Inspired by Navy SEAL Lt. Michael Murphy, the Murph is a Memorial Day staple in the CrossFit world. Gyms across Boston are hosting Murph events on May 26 to bring people together for a powerful test of endurance and grit.
The Workout:
1-mile run
100 pull-ups
200 push-ups
300 air squats
1-mile run (with or without a weighted vest)
Where to Join:
Tip: Many studios offer scaled versions of the workout, so don’t be intimidated! Click here for tips from Invictus' coaches!
🏃♀️ Run to Remember: Seaport
Date: Sunday, May 25, 2025
Location: Seaport World Trade Center
Races: Half Marathon or 5-Miler
This iconic Boston race honors fallen law enforcement officers with a scenic course through downtown and the Seaport. Whether you're racing or cheering from the sidelines, Run to Remember is a moving way to spend your Sunday morning.
Why we love it: It’s not just a race — it’s a memorial, a celebration of resilience, and a show of community spirit.
🧘♀️ Reflective Wellness: Yoga & Community Classes
Looking for something lower-impact but still meaningful? Try a restorative class this weekend! Many studios offered a modified holiday schedule, so sign up in advance.

🗓 Make It Your Own Memorial Movement
Even if you’re not joining a formal event, you can still honor the meaning of the weekend through personal movement:
Buddy workout in the park – Grab a friend and head to Christopher Columbus Park, Jamaica Pond, or the Greenway for a bodyweight circuit or gentle jog.
Gratitude walk or run – Dedicate each mile or minute to someone you want to honor. Try a route along the Charles River Esplanade or Castle Island.
Create your own “Memorial WOD” – Inspired by service, sacrifice, or strength. Use movements that challenge your mindset and remind you of your resilience.
Final Thoughts
Memorial Day is a chance to remember, reflect, and move with intention. Whether you're challenging yourself with Murph, cheering on racers in the Seaport, or flowing through yoga at sunset, there’s no shortage of meaningful movement happening across Boston.
